New HMD Global Starts Seeding Android 9 Pie Update to Nokia X5; Nokia 5.1 Plus to Receive it Next
HMD Global is extremely quick at upgrading its Nokia phones to the latest software. HMD Global recently upgraded a bunch of Nokia phones to Android 9 Pie. The frequent software updates are because of the Android One programme that all the Nokia phones run on. Now another Nokia phone is getting Android 9 Pie’s sweetness. It is the Nokia X5, which has been launched only recently with Android Oreo on board. The Nokia X5 was launched in China this year in the month of July running on Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box. At the launch, HMD Global did confirm that the Nokia X5 will be upgraded to Pie and that’s what is happening. The company is upgrading the Nokia phone to Android 9 Pie from Android 8.1 Oreo. HMD Global is pushing out the Android 9 Pie update to all Nokia X5 users across the globe. Reports also suggest that after the Nokia X5, it will be the Nokia 5.1 Plus that will get Android 9 Pie update.
Nokia X5 Gets Android 9 Pie Update
The Nokia X5 was launched in July while the Nokia 5.1 Plus went official in the month of August this year. Within just a few months of the launch, the Nokia X5 is receiving the next iteration of Android update. All Nokia X5 users across the globe are getting the Pie update now. If you’re a Nokia X5 user, you should get the software update anytime. Do ensure to connect your phone to the Wi-Fi network before downloading and installing the update. Also, recharging the phone battery fully is also recommended.
HMD Global confirmed the coming of Android 9 Pie to Nokia X5 via a post on Weibo, the Chinese microblogging site. The company has confirmed that the update measures 1467MB in size and will require a minimum of 2940MB of space in the phone. The Android 9 Pie update is said to bring several new features like new system navigation among other things.
Nokia 5.1 Plus to Receive the Update Soon
The next phone in the line up to get the Android 9 Pie update after the Nokia X5 is the Nokia 5.1 Plus, the company has confirmed. As far as the specs are concerned, the Nokia X5 comes with a 5.86-inch HD+ display with a resolution of 720×1520 pixels and an aspect ratio of 19:9. The phone offers a screen-to-body ratio of 84%. On the camera front, the Nokia X5 includes a dual rear camera setup on the back panel with a primary sensor of 13MP and secondary sensor of 5MP. On the front, the smartphone includes an 8MP lens with support for AI-image technology.
On the hardware front, the Nokia phone comes with MediaTek Helio P60 octa-core SoC paired with up to 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The phone is backed by a 3060mAh battery.
