New Wynk Music by Airtel Rated as the Most Entertaining App of 2018 on Google Play Store

Bharti Airtel, which is providing music streaming service through Wynk Music since 2014 today announced that the app has emerged as India’s leading music app with one of the highest number of active users. Furthermore, Wynk Music has been rated as the Most Entertaining App of 2018 on Google Play Store. To recall, Wynk Music was introduced four years ago in 2014, and since the launch, it has seen explosive growth. On Google Play Store, Wynk Music app has been downloaded more than 100 million times.

Earlier this year in May, Wynk Music received a major update which overhauled the entire user interface. Airtel introduced all-new Radio tab, a dedicated ‘My Music’ tab and much-awaited Playlists feature. In Wynk Music, users can follow lists created by others using the Playlists feature. The app also comes with an Artist section, that showcases the best of songs from the music artist making it easy for users to navigate.

“We now have a sharp focus on adding regional content to our library given that most new users coming online are from smaller towns and villages. We are already seeing a massive surge in volumes of regional songs being streamed on Wynk and believe that this trend is set to play out in a big way in the coming years. Airtel’s deep understanding of these markets and customers enables us to deliver a great experience to these users,” further added Sameer Batra.

Wynk Music takes on Jio’s JioSaavn app which was formerly known as JioMusic application. Wynk Music may not compete with JioSaavn in terms of offerings, but Airtel users are allowed to stream songs and make them offline as well. For an ad-free experience, users have to purchase the Wynk Music premium subscription.
