New Vodafone Idea Unveils Rs 1,499 Annual Prepaid Plan With 365GB Data and Unlimited Calling

With the recent changes in the prepaid segment, the best way to secure your mobile number is to recharge a yearly plan. If you look at the scenario four months ago, consumers didn’t have yearly prepaid plans at affordable prices, however, that has changed with Jio’s Rs 1,699 prepaid plan. This annual plan from Jio is not only affordable, but it also forced other telcos to come up with affordable yearly plans. State-run BSNL immediately followed Jio by launching Rs 1,699 and Rs 2,099 prepaid plans, and very recently it even launched Rs 1,312 annual plan. Now joining the list is the newly merged telco Vodafone Idea which has now unveiled an annual prepaid plan of Rs 1,499. This plan from Vodafone and Idea Cellular is not only cheap and it ships all the three essential benefits- calling, data and SMS for 365 days.

Vodafone Idea Rs 1,499 Prepaid Plan: What it Offers?

To tackle the competition better, Vodafone Idea has introduced the affordable Rs 1,499 yearly prepaid plan offering benefits for 365 days. The first thing to note here is that this plan is not yet available across the country, meaning it’s currently available for select users in select circles. While Idea Cellular has introduced the Rs 1,499 prepaid recharge in more than ten circles, Vodafone is shipping the plan in less than five circles. Maybe the telco is looking for consumers interest on this plan in the circles where it introduced. Idea Cellular has introduced this plan in Andhra Pradesh & Telangana, Kolkata, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh and so on. On the other hand, Vodafone is offering the Rs 1,499 prepaid plan in Mumbai, Karnataka among other 4G circles. Even in the circles where the plan is available, some users may not be able to recharge it because it’s a segmented recharge.

Talking about the benefits offered by the Rs 1,499 plan from Vodafone Idea, it offers a user unlimited calling without any cap as the telco recently removed FUP on voice calling. Vodafone Idea prepaid users recharging this plan will also get 1GB data per day for 365 days, which in turn becomes 365GB of data. The data benefit can be used in 2G/3G/4G networks since Vodafone Idea is a GSM telecom service provider. Lastly, users will also get 100 SMS per day benefit.

Vodafone Idea Rs 1,499 Prepaid Plan Vs Jio Rs 1,699 Prepaid Recharge?

Reliance Jio unveiled the Rs 1,699 yearly prepaid plan four months ago in India. Back then, none of the telcos offered a decent annual plan under Rs 2,000, which allowed Jio to set a mark in the industry. Jio’s Rs 1,699 plan offers 1.5GB of 4G data per day, unlimited voice calling without any cap and 100 SMS per day for 365 days. On the flip side, Vodafone Idea is providing just 1GB data per day, which is significantly lesser than what Jio is providing. On the whole, Jio’s yearly plan of Rs 1,699 offers 547.5GB of 4G data, but Vodafone is offering 365GB of data for the entire validity period.

The data benefit is alloted on a daily basis, so it may not be an issue for normal users. But for heavy data users, Jio’s plan surely is a go-to option.
