New OnePlus 6 Gets OxygenOS Open Beta 10 Update With India-Centric Features

OnePlus is now pushing a new software update to the OxygenOS Open Beta users of OnePlus 6 with various bug fixes and improvements. The OxygenOS Open Beta 10, which is currently reaching out to all the OnePlus 6 users on Open Beta programme brings several new features including some special ones for the users in India. First of all, this update is available only for the users who’re currently on OxygenOS Open Beta ROM and these features will make into the stable version in a couple of weeks. OnePlus has added a new caller identification feature for the users in India along with improved user interface for call history. The update also brings several system improvements and new features to OnePlus Gallery and Launcher applications.

OxygenOS Open Beta 10 for OnePlus 6: What’s New?

OnePlus has detailed the changelog on its Forums and going by the same; it’s a major update. Post the Open Beta 10 update, you’ll notice improvements for screen brightness control and colour adaptation for navigation bar when using third-party apps. Also, OnePlus 6 users can confirm PIN without tapping the ‘?’ icon for app locker. As always, OnePlus has fixed general bug fixes which were present on the OxygenOS Open Beta 9 update along with improving overall system stability.

As noted, the update comes with some India-centric features. OnePlus has added a caller identification feature for the users in India because you know in India, spam calls are a thing. Also, the Phone app has been redesigned with an improved user interface for call history.

The OnePlus Gallery app also received some new features. Users can now create a collection, copy and move phones from the Gallery app itself. There are new illustrations and design on blank pages. Lastly, the OnePlus Launcher app has received a recommended tools in Toolbox and improved UI for category tags in the app drawer. The OxygenOS Open Beta 10 build is based on Android 9 Pie.

How to Install OxygenOS Open Beta ROM on Your OnePlus Smartphone?

OnePlus often pushes new features to its Open Beta ROM first and every OnePlus user can experience the same by installing them. However, do make a note that some of these releases will not be as stable as the stable releases. OnePlus is currently running OxygenOS Open Beta programme for OnePlus 5, 5T, 6 and 6T. The OnePlus 6T recently received its first Open Beta build based on Android 9 Pie.

You might be wondering by now: How to Install Open Beta ROM on your eligible smartphone? Well, it’s a very simple process. All you need to do is download the latest Open Beta build by heading over to OnePlus Forums.

After downloading, copy the file to your internal storage (if you’ve downloaded it on your PC/Mac). Now fire up Settings app>System Update>click the ‘settings’ icon on the top right corner> choose the downloaded file> click on Install.

Well, the installation will take a while and once the device reboots, you’ll be on the Open Beta ROM. If you want to migrate to the stable build, follow the same procedure by downloading the stable release from OnePlus Forums.

Also, do a make a note that once you migrate to the beta path, you will continue to receive Open Beta OTAs and not the stable builds. The Open Beta ROM installation will not wipe your data, but the revert back to stable build will wipe your data.
