New New Prepaid Users of MTNL to Get Free Data for 60 Days as Part of Christmas Offer

Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) which has operations in Delhi and Mumbai telecom circles has rolled out a new offer as part of Christmas and New Year. Under the offer, new prepaid customers of MTNL will get unlimited data at free of cost for a period of 60 days from the date of activating the mobile number. Notably, this offer from MTNL is valid in both Mumbai and Delhi circles. Also, do make a note that the prepaid connection should be booked between December 25, 2018, to January 31, 2019. The telco is providing 2G and 3G services at the moment, but it’s expected to launch 4G services in the country very soon. MTNL is providing just unlimited data and not voice calling or text messages. With this offer, the government-owned firm must be looking to add some subscribers under its belt as it has been losing them on a consistent manner since the entry of Jio.

MTNL Christmas & New Year Offer: What You Need to Know

First of all, MTNL has rolled out this offer today and if you reside in Mumbai or Delhi circles, head over to the nearest MTNL store to avail the offer. Diving deep into the details, MTNL will not charge users for consuming data on the prepaid numbers booked during the offer period. And there’s no daily data limit as well, so if you’re a heavy data user, head over to the nearest MTNL store right away to get a SIM card with free data offer.

But sadly, MTNL is still providing 2G and 3G services in the country, so the speeds will not be as good as on the Airtel and Jio networks. Furthermore, MTNL will not charge you for the SIM card, which is a good thing. Talking about the voice calling and SMS benefits, you’ll have to perform a recharge separately. After 60 days, MTNL will charge you for data consumption as per the base plan rates.

The offer runs between December 25 and January 31, 2019, and the free data usage will be valid for 60 days from the date of activation of SIM card.

MTNL to Launch 4G Services in the Coming Days

In other news, MTNL subscribers in Delhi and Mumbai are extremely disappointed with the telco as there are no 4G services, which is restricting them with speeds below other networks such as Airtel, Jio and Vodafone Idea. The telco is continuously in talks with telecom department seeking the allocation of 4G spectrum, but there’s no response from the government. BSNL is also awaiting the allotment of spectrum, but it’s currently running 4G trials in various parts of the country and is expected to make the service commercial very soon.

Also, Telecom Minister Manoj Sinha has rubbished the rumours of MTNL and BSNL merger recently.
