New Is It a Better Buy Than OnePlus 6T?
For all those who love brand Vivo, here’s a piece of good news. Vivo has slashed the price of its flagship smartphone, the Vivo NEX by Rs 5,000 in India. The Vivo NEX, which was launched in India last year, was priced at Rs 44,999. After the new price reduction, the NEX now retails at Rs 39,999 across all the offline and online channels in India. And at the new price, the Vivo NEX is an excellent smartphone- even a better buy than the OnePlus 6T. The Vivo NEX features an all-screen display with very minimal bezels, in-display fingerprint scanner, Snapdragon 845 SoC and various other features. It’s also the first smartphone in India to launch with a motorised front camera.
Vivo NEX: Specifications and Features
In China, Vivo launched the NEX in two variants- one with Snapdragon 845 SoC and the other one with Snapdragon 710 SoC. However, in India, it launched only the Snapdragon 845 variant to take on the OnePlus 6, back then. Talking about the specifications and features of the Vivo NEX, it sports a 6.59-inch Full HD+ display with a resolution of 1080×2316 pixels and an aspect ratio of 19.3:9. It’s a Super AMOLED panel which is why the phone has an in-display fingerprint scanner.
Underneath, the NEX has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset, clubbed with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. In India, Vivo launched the phone in a single variant with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage. There’s no other variant with 256GB of storage. The phone also has a 3.5mm headphone jack which the OnePlus 6T lacks.
As for the connectivity options, the NEX supports Dual 4G, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, GLONASS and a USB Type-C port. The Vivo NEX was the first phone to launch in India with a motorised front-facing camera. As for the camera hardware, the NEX has an 8MP shooter on the front, 12MP+5MP cameras on the rear side. The NEX has a 4000mAh battery which also supports fast charging.
Should You Purchase the Vivo NEX at Rs 39,999 Over OnePlus 6T?
After the price cut, the Vivo NEX goes against the OnePlus 6T which also provides similar features as the former. The OnePlus 6T has a Super AMOLED display, in-display fingerprint scanner, Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset, dual rear cameras and a 3700mAh battery.
The Vivo NEX and OnePlus 6T boasts the same chipset- which is the Snapdragon 845 SoC. But what makes the OnePlus 6T special is OxygenOS which not only runs on Android 9 Pie, but it’s miles ahead of Vivo’s FunTouch OS. Performance wise, both the smartphones are equal, but the OnePlus 6T edges out on camera and software side of things.
The Vivo NEX is futuristic as it sports a motorised camera which allowed Vivo to achieve an insane 91.4% screen-to-body ratio. The OnePlus 6T, on the other hand, has a waterdrop notch. And lastly, the NEX has a 3.5mm headphone jack and also offers better battery life than the OnePlus 6T.
Overall, if you want the best software experience, then your choice should be the OnePlus 6T. If you can’t live without a headphone jack and want a full-screen experience, then you should get the Vivo NEX without any further looking. The OnePlus 6T with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage is priced at Rs 40,999, which is Rs 1,000 more than the Vivo NEX with the same amount of storage and RAM.
