New After BSNL, Vodafone Idea Bids Goodbye to Blackout Days in 2019

New After BSNL, Vodafone Idea Bids Goodbye to Blackout Days in 2019

This year we have seen a lot of surprises, new plans, offers and much more from the telecom operators. Shockingly, some of the major operators like Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea away did away with the talk time recharges which were previously mainstream and were in usage for more than a decade. However, there was one issue where subscribers wanted more from the telcos that the companies had not addressed – the concept of blackout days, but now it seems, that those days are past us. After Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), Vodafone Idea has also announced that it will be dispensing its blackout days entirely in the year 2019.

Vodafone Idea Announces No Blackout Days

Notably, BSNL, the government led telecom operator was the first in this league to do away with the blackout days, thus allowing the subscribers to use their special recharges or vouchers even during major holidays like New Year’s Eve, Diwali and Holi. Previously, if the subscribers wanted to send greetings to their relatives or loved ones via SMS, then they were charged the usual SMS price which was up to Rs 3 per message, an amount which is very high even from current market standards. This was also the case when the subscriber had SMS packs activated on his or her account. Blackout days meant that the activated SMS pack was rendered useless if it was a festival. However, now it is not the case. Vodafone Idea and BSNL subscribers will not be charged via the standard rates when they send SMS on festivals. The subscribers will be able to reap the benefits of their activated special recharge packs even during the so-called blackout days.

The market leader, Vodafone Idea has declared no blackout days since December 25 this year. The telecom operator has also informed that its subscribers will be able to activate SMS packs which start at a minimal price of Rs 12. The company has also added that this new change will be applicable to both Vodafone and Idea subscribers.

BSNL Taking Innovative Approach to Sustain

There is no doubt that for this latest implementation, Vodafone Idea has followed in the footsteps of BSNL. As of late, the government led telco is making very smart and impressive moves in the industry. The telecom operator is paying massive attention to its consumers and has still preserved the mainstream talk time recharges thus providing the comfort of flexibility to its subscribers, unlike other telcos which have introduced minimum recharges for the customers who want to keep their services up and running.
